In December of 2007 Emmanuel's Heart International hosted a team of Christian surfers from Green Valley church in San Diego to minister to a tiny seaside community in El Salvador called El Zonte. The team ran a Vacation Bible School for the local children, 40 of whom publically accepted Jesus into their hearts at weeks end. The team also shared the love of God with the local teens and adults and even joined the community in an after-holiday beach clean-up.
The community was moved that the team came to give and to love the children and not just to use the beach. Doors of opportunity to minister the love of God were opened, an ongoing deeper relationship with the neighborhood was established and the local pastor's ministry was increased as a result of the team's efforts in El Zonte. The El Zonte neighborhood association has asked us to return this holiday season 2008. This year a team of nine will come from Green Valley church to run an even bigger VBS. We hope to reach even more children in the surrounding areas this year and make an even bigger impact for the Lord. We have also been raising the funds to buy a motorcycle for the local pastor so that he can more easily visit the various rural churches that he supervises. Please pray for our safety and effectiveness this December 29th through January 6th.
